Twelve x Rose:

Twelve x Rose au: strangers who reach a hotel in a snowstorm at the same time and have to share the last room.
None of those look interesting? There are thousands of prompts in our prompt tag!
The Doctor heard a whisper behind him, which was confusing since he was in the TARDIS’ galley and as far as he could tell there was no threat to be seen.
“Doctor! C’mere!” Rose was peeking out from the large walk-in pantry.
“What are you….”. He didn’t finish the question due to being hauled into the pantry by the shirt sleeve.
“She can hear us, right? Everywhere we are, she can hear us?” Rose looked panicked.
The Doctor was becoming slightly frightened for Rose’s mental health. “Rose, who can hear us?” he asked carefully.
For @doctorroseprompts “Landing on a planet where it’s tradition to bring a gift to give the first person you see” 31 Days Of Ficmas prompt. Ten x Rose reunion fic. Chapter 20 of Christmas Short and Sweet.
❄️❄️❄️❄️
The Doctor saw the blonde across the town square, looking out of place with the festive people of Noellia. They wore ugly Christmas jumpers and parkas and Santa hats, but this woman wore plain black trousers and a purplish-blue leather jacket, completely different from the riot of red and gold and green around her.
It wasn’t just her odd clothing, because the Doctor knew he probably stood out in his pinstripes and long coat, it was the way she walked. “Rose,” he breathed, barely able to speak aloud. He began to push his way through the crowd. A festive Noellian stepped into his path, holding out a gift for him to open, as was their tradition, but the Doctor ignored him. It was terribly rude, since it was customary on Noellia to give, and to accept a gift from, the first new person you encountered.
There was only one person he wanted to see, and finally found his voice as he bellowed, “Rose Tyler!”
He could see that she was clutching something, and he knew, without having to see, that it was her TARDIS key. She knew she was in the right place, at the right time. He shouted again and this time she stopped and whirled around to lock eyes with him. Her eyes widened and her smile broadened and then she was running toward him.
They met in the middle, by the fountain the the town square. They embraced, both laughing and crying. He lifted her, swinging her around. He became aware that he had been murmuring her name over and over as they embraced.
“My Doctor,” he heard her whisper in his ear.
“Yours. Always yours. Forever.” And then he leaned down and pressed his lips to hers, kissing her with all the passion and love he never thought he’d be able to express.
When Rose had to break away to breathe, he rested his forehead against hers, and blurted, “I love you.”
“I love you,” she answered. They stood there, too wrapped up in each other to realize that the crowd around them had started to applaud their reunion.
They began to chuckle as they became aware of their audience. “Welcome to Noellia, Rose Tyler. They celebrate Christmas for an entire year. They have a tradition here, you know…”
“And what is that,” she chuckled. “I missed your rambling.”
“This isn’t a ramble, this is important,” he said with a pout. Rose couldn’t keep from laughing.
“I missed that pout too.”
“You’re supposed to give a gift to the first person you meet. As I didn’t realize I would be landing here…..I don’t have a gift for you.”
“You’re my gift,” she told him, grinning that tongue touched smile he’d missed.
Tex x Rose, prompt: hot chocolate. A post Christmas Invasion Doctor is wondering if his taste buds have changed….
“Hot chocolate is ready!” Jackie announced as she entered the living room with a large hot pink mug filled to the brim.
“Hot chocolate, brilliant! I think I love that!” the Doctor declared happily, tearing himself away the window, where he’d been watching the not-snow fall on the pavement.
“You think you love it?” Jackie asked.
“New tongue, new taste buds.” He stuck out his tongue briefly, as if that would illustrate his point.
Jackie shook her head in disbelief. “You both have workin’ legs, go help yourselves!”
The Doctor fairly bounced into the kitchen. “Ah, this looks lovely. Made with real milk, I take it.”
“Is there any other way to make it?” Rose mused, smiling as she joined him at the stove.
“Well, you could do it with powdered chocolate and water, in a microwave, but that’s rubbish….Oh! That was a rhetorical question…..”
Rose chuckled and nodded, watching as he dipped the ladle into the chocolate mixture, filling the large red snowflake mug set out on the counter. “So, you don’t know if you like it?”
“Nope,” he said, popping the p. “New taste buds are always an adventure.” Suddenly, he grimaced in horror.
“What? You haven’t even tasted it yet!” Rose blurted, baffled by his reaction.
“What if my tongue doesn’t like bananas any more, Rose? My brain still remembers loving them.”
He seemed genuinely horrified by the thought, so Rose bit back her laughter and patted his shoulder. “I reckon if you’re this worried, you probably still do love them. But in the meantime…let’s see what your tongue thinks about hot chocolate and snickerdoodles.”
His expression changed from worry to pure delight at the word snickerdoodle.
“Are you two joinin’ me, or not?” Jackie called from the table.
The Doctor and Rose quickly served up their hot chocolate and joined Jackie. She had an open bag of mini marshmallows and a plate of cookies sitting out invitingly on the table.
Jackie shook a few marshmallows into her mug, then she offered the bag to her guests. Rose shook her head, but the Doctor took her up on the invitation.
He plucked a marshmallow out of the bag and licked it. Jackie’s eyes widened, and Rose nearly spit out her drink in surprise. “Hmmmm….”
“What does your tongue think of that?” Rose asked after she’d managed to swallow her hot chocolate.
The Doctor dumped three-quarters of the bag into his mug, making a small, snow white mound. “I think it likes them!” he announced happily.
Jackie scoffed, “Just what himself needs. More sugar. Looks like this one has a sweet tooth.”
The Doctor wanted to argue that the tongue, not the teeth, made that particular determination, but his mouth was too full of marshmallows to speak.
The next morning, after the sugar rush and the inevitable crash that followed, the Doctor awakened to a stack of banana pancakes made by Rose. They were relieved to discover that even when there was momentous change, some things still stayed the same.

So yesterday @goingtothetardis had a great idea for a fic and she returned the favor after I gained some inspiration from her 31 Days.
There he was, on the beach again, his other self trying desperately to get Rose to see why this needed to happen, why he needed to leave her. His heart—his one human heart—twisted with guilt. He hated watching how this was breaking her. Even more, he hated how she tore herself away from him at the groaning of the dematerializing TARDIS.
There was a thought. His one friend and constant companion through everything, gone forever.
Rose stood still as a statue. She was his one friend now. He approached her slowly and took her hand. The look on her face was hard to interpret. “Are you… alright? I don’t know what to say.”
“No, I’m not alright.“ She tore her hand from his. “This is bloody stupid, and I can’t believe he had the nerve to send me away again.”
He hung his head. “Did you mean that, when you said I’m not him? Do you not think of me as the Doctor?”
“This happened too fast to process. One moment he was regenerating, and then next you popped out of the TARDIS and tried something absolutely stupid—” She pushed on his chest. “What were you thinking, running out there like that with one heart? Davros could have killed you! Have you got a death wish this time around?”
Born in battle and revenge and all that. Just like when he’d first met her. “He didn’t, and I’m fine. I was trying to save you lot, thanks.”
“And no, I’m not happy. We have a lot to sort because of this.”
“I’m sorry, Rose. I know it’s not what you wanted.”
“No, it’s not. I worked so hard to get back to you, and now you’ve left me.” She blinked back tears, and his heart twisted again at the sight her trying to be so strong. “But… but you’re here.”
“I am, and I’m never gonna leave you, Rose.” Tears pricked his eyes. Gods, he ached to kiss her again. His wish was granted when she threw her arms around his neck and pressed her lips to his again, hungry, desperate this time.
“Oi!” Jackie’s shrill voice pierced through their revelry. Rose didn’t break their contact entirely, though, he mused. “Sorry, but we’d best get a shift on. Looks like there’s a storm coming in off the sea. There’s a bed and breakfast not too far from here. Hopefully they’ll have rooms. If not, we can put up in their sitting room. They’re friendly, and, y’know, they’ll remember us from last time. It’s a shame you had to drop us off here again and not closer to home. We’ve no luggage or extra clothes.” She babbled on as she turned away.
Rose pressed her forehead to his cheek. “Last time. I don’t want to think about that.”
“Neither do I, but at least we get to touch this time.”
“Yeah, we do.” She shivered in his arms. The wind was picking up, wasn’t it?
“Best get a shift on indeed. We’ll deal with everything later.”
“Do you do that now?”
“What?”
“Deal with things.”
He shrugged. “I suppose I do. Comes with being part human, I suppose.”
“I’ll hold you to it.”
“We’ll be alright, then?”
She pulled back to look at him. “Yeah. We will be.”
He grinned. “Good. Hello, by the way.”
She grinned right back, her eyes shining. “Hello.”
“We need to move. Jackie’s already nearly off the beach. Let’s go and get you out of the cold.”
As a reader, as a writer, and as a fan I can’t think of a single website that has given me more happiness than Archive of Our Own. Thank you so much to everyone who works so hard to make it such a wonderful place.
Surprise!! Bonus chapter. Two in one week! I’m hoping for that next week as well. After the 16th chapter I’m taking a brief hiatus from this story to write my DW secret Santa story, as well as some other Christmas fluff. After Chapter 16, the story will return at the beginning of January. As always, thank you @rose–nebula!
Hardy’s train, although slow, somehow managed to make it back by nine-thirty. He went straight to the station, where Ellie was still toiling at her desk. She was hungry and angry, and he was starved and disgruntled, so the briefing Ellie gave him was quick and prickly. “Kevin Lawry is hiding something. The knob knows where his brother is, I can feel it. And then there’s Genevieve. She denies she ever had the conversation with Rose, but she’s obviously lying. I trust Rose.”
“So do I. So why the hell did she even go through the whole charade?” Hardy asked, then he groaned.
“I don’t know. It’s ridiculous, and they’re all distractin’ us from seeing the big picture. Joe, too. I hope the bloke he fought with got in a few good punches. Did you have a chance to talk to Jeannine again?”
Hardy commented, “No, I didn’t. She’s not answerin’ at either number she gave me. Wasn’t at the Cavern, either. Joe was lookin’ rough, if it’s any consolation.”
“If I wasn’t starvin’, it actually would be a consolation. I’ve had it, though. I want food.”
I updated In the Right Place today for everyone who was worried about the cliffhanger! I will get posted here at some point this week. I will finish out the story on Tumblr, but once this story is complete I will only be posting short fics and previews to long fics on here.
