The same fic answers both of these! My favorite to write for this year has been Alec Hardy. I absolutely love that grumpy Scottish detective.

The fic I didn’t expect to write was In the Right Place. I’ve written a lot of Broadchurch, and I did a series of stories about an Alec x Ellie pairing. I loved reading Alec x Rose, but I just hadn’t gotten around to writing anything. Then some anonymous person ( who I REALLY wish would reveal themselves!!) prompts a tiny fic of Alec x Rose. I wrote it, then got bitten viciously by a plot bunny, and long story short, I’m over 70K words into an Alec x Rose mystery. I’m shocked, actually!

13 for the end of year asks?

I don’t really have an album or artist I listen to! I do listen to the Doctor Who soundtracks a lot while writing, though. During this time of the year I listen to a lot of Christmas music and that really helps inspire my Christmas fluff. My favorite example of that is the song Up Above the Northern Lights by Mannheim Steamroller, that inspired a Ten x Rose fic.

With all the uncertainty about Tumblr changes going on, we would like to put out a word encouraging everyone to to post your fics that currently only exist on Tumblr to AO3. 

We know there are many great fics: askbox, drabbles, ficlets, submissions, and multichapters out there in blog archives that we would love to read and rec! 

(Without getting into the technical weeds, we had already started avoiding adding Tumblr fics to our lists because Tumblr’s frequent code changes and link-breakage cause trouble for our database.)

Tex x Rose, prompt: hot chocolate.  A post Christmas Invasion Doctor is wondering if his taste buds have changed….

“Hot chocolate is ready!”  Jackie announced as she entered the living room with a large hot pink mug filled to the brim.  

“Hot chocolate, brilliant!  I think I love that!” the Doctor declared happily, tearing himself away the window,  where he’d been watching the not-snow fall on the pavement.

“You think you love it?” Jackie asked.

“New tongue, new taste buds.”  He stuck out his tongue briefly, as if that would illustrate his point.
