Person B, one of the friends in the group, makes up an excuse as to why they can’t go caroling either. Person B then shows up at Person A’s house and serenades them with Christmas carols in their living room.

Rose Tyler had a best friend, a wonderful best friend. He went by the name John Smith, which was an absolutely ridiculous name, but he seemed to revel in ridiculousness, so that fit him perfectly. He was tall, skinny (also ridiculously so), had gorgeous amber eyes and gravity defying spiky brown hair. (With auburn highlights, not that Rose had paid attention to such things.)

Rose gaped at the view laid out in front of her as she reached the top step of the St. Vitus Cathedral tower, located in the heart of Prague Castle. The frigid air that whipped through the openings in the rampart made her eyes sting, but she blinked the beginnings of tears away as she pressed her ribs against the icy stone, craning her neck to see the ornate palace courtyard 297 steps below.
“This cathedral got its name because the Duke of Bohemia acquired the arm of St. Vitus when the chapel was being built in 930 AD,” came the Doctor’s voice from behind her, causing Rose to roll her eyes toward the blue Czech sky. “That’s right – his actual arm! It was a holy relic. The Duke, you see Rose, was trying to convert the locals to Christianity, so he chose St. Vitus – or Svatý Vít in Czech – because the name sounded quite similar to Svantevit, the Slavic solar deity.”
Rose puffed out her cheeks as she felt a long explanation coming on and reached behind her for the Doctor’s hands – if he was going to give her a history lesson on local pagan gods, he could at least keep her warm.
I just reached a follower milestone for this blog, and in celebration I decided to publish my Christmas/Holiday/Winter fic rec list I’ve been building this holiday season. I confess that many of these stories are from the 2015 DWSecretSanta, but there are several I found from years past that will hopefully add some variety to the collection. I read every single one of these before adding them to the list, and I’ll probably come back to this list again and again for my own personal reference. 😀 I do realize it’s glaringly incomplete, but that just leaves more room for all kinds of new Christmas/winter fic in years to come. 😀 I hope you enjoy it! Rose and Tentoo (and Jackie) have just been left at Bad Wolf Bay. With the TARDIS coral in the Doctor’s pocket and reservations at a local inn, they have to wait until the morning to get a ride back to London. What Tentoo doesn’t know is that he was the unexpected answer to a special wish: a Christmas wish.
One night while working as a photographer at a corporate Christmas party, Bella meets the energetic and successful Campbell. But the handsome DJ has secrets of his own. Maybe there is someone who gets her after all.
Tentoo and Rose make matching New Year’s resolutions that end up accomplished before the night is over. But first, they have a sexy, cute, romantic date as they await the countdown to midnight.
Now that Tentoo and Rose are traveling in a TARDIS again, she wonders what it means for their relationship and questions overshadow her happiness. Little does she know, the Doctor has a Christmas Eve surprise.
Tentoo and Rose see Jackie and Pete with Tony, and it makes them consider their future plans.

The Doctor grins from one big ear to the other, being all impressive and she looks at him like he’s hung the moon.

She saves his arse yet again, does something brilliant and he looks at her like he’s not sure whether to congratulate her for a job well done or shag her rotten on the jumpseat.
Advantage: Rose.
He gives her that look. Jack knows his own knees would go weak if the Doctor ever turned that look his way, so he’s just a bit jealous that it’s all for Rose. Of course the prat doesn’t follow it up with any action but she…
