For @timepetalsprompts Winter Fic Bingo. I used the “lights” and “blanket” squares.

The Doctor wrapped a blanket around Rose’s shoulders, then opened the TARDIS door. “All planets have a north, yeah?” he said with a smirk. “Well, here’s yours.”
Rose was properly impressed by both the view, and by the Doctor gently draping a blanket around her shoulders. It felt like something her first Doctor would have done. Maybe this new Doctor wasn’t as rude as he thought he was.
The sky was alight with color- coronas of green, blue and yellow, a slight hint of purple. The Doctor indicated that she should sit down in the doorway, and he joined her. His chucks and her trainers dangled over the light show below.
“Blimey, Doctor!” she gasped. “S’gorgeous!”
“Happy Christmas, Rose Tyler,” he murmured. “Thought you deserved some peace after the Sycorax…issue.”
“Thank you, Doctor,” she said, smiling gently. She took his hand, squeezing it gently.
The Doctor was gobsmacked, which was odd, because this new body clearly had a gob, but the sight of her warm brown eyes and beautiful smile made his newly minted Time Lord brain stutter. He didn’t think he could blame it on a neural implosion this time.
Rose shifted, draping the blanket so that they were sharing it. “Careful,” the Doctor warned. “Won’t do to have you tumble out.”
“I’m safe with you,” she whispered.
Her quiet confidence more than anything, made his hearts pound. The Doctor took a breath and then declared, “The Aurora Borealis, Rose Tyler. A phenomenon of natural light display in the sky, produced when the magnetosphere is sufficiently disturbed by the solar wind…” He trailed off at the look of wonder on her face.
“S’magical, s’what it is. Pure mystery. Enough to make you believe anything could happen on a night like this.”
“Anything could happen,” he agreed. “When there’s such magic in the air, that is.” The Doctor’s eyes locked with Rose’s. Whether it was magic or mystery or the magnetosphere, the Doctor felt a warm wave of want and courage. He leaned toward Rose. She nodded, smiling.
Their lips came together gently as he wrapped an arm around her, pulling her closer.
They kissed, in a world all their own, as the colors swirled through a sky of a billion stars.
I updated In the Right Place today for everyone who was worried about the cliffhanger! I will get posted here at some point this week. I will finish out the story on Tumblr, but once this story is complete I will only be posting short fics and previews to long fics on here.

The Doctor finds Rose decorating for Christmas, and decides to give her the best Christmas she’s ever had.
This is for @doctorroseprompts 31 Days of Ficmas, using the word, “lights.” This is day 9 on my personal 31 Days of Ficmas, and was prompted by @pellaaearien. Look for the next scene in this on Wednesday!
This is part of As Time Goes By, my series following the canon progression between the Doctor and Rose in a series of hugs and kisses. (Though we’re decidedly off canon now, as this is post Doomsday fixit.) It follows Worth It.
The Doctor strode back to the TARDIS alone, his hand feeling empty with Rose’s clasped firmly in it. They’d split up when they arrived at the alien market, him going one way to get TARDIS parts and her another to explore the market and the culture.
She’d told over the bond him to meet her at home when he was done, and the buzz of happiness she projected had convinced him to conclude his haggling quickly and get home posthaste.
The console room was empty, and he tossed his coat over a strut as he headed down the corridor in the general direction he sensed Rose was in. He’d only gone a few steps before he recognised his surroundings and guessed she was in the library; a few more, and he could hear Christmas music spilling out through the open door.
Standing in the doorway, the Doctor watched, entranced, as Rose spun around the Christmas tree, twinkling fairy light draped over her shoulders. She sang along softly with the music as she positioned the last few lights, and then she scooted back a few steps to examine her work.
The TARDIS dimmed the lights to highlight the tree, and the twinkling fairy lights on the tree lent a magical feel to the room. Everything shimmered, but nothing glowed as much as Rose.
The Doctor stepped into the room finally, and Rose turned to greet him. Her eyes sparkled with joy, but the glow of happiness pulsing over the bond was even more intoxicating.
“About time you got home,” she teased as he pulled her close. She reached for his tie and tugged on it gently. “I thought I was going to have to put all the ornaments on myself, too.”
He chuckled and pressed a quick kiss to her lips before pulling back and resting his forehead against hers. “Where did you get the tree?” he asked.
Rose pulled away from him and walked over to the tree, touching one of the delicate fir branches. “There was a stand at the market. And I realised we haven’t done Christmas since you regenerated, so I thought…”
“Brilliant as always, love.” He caught her hand in his and pulled her towards the couch. “Come on. Let’s sit down and look at the tree.”
Two mugs of mulled wine appeared on the coffee table as they sat down, and he silently thanked his obliging ship. An idea came to him as Rose settled into his arms, a planet he’d heard of but never visited. He pressed a kiss to the top of her head and smiled. If Rose wanted to have Christmas, they would give her the best holiday she’d ever experienced.
I know there’s a lot of tension after Tumblr’s new policy annouced for December 17th, but reblog this if you aren’t leaving Tumblr so that other blogs can know they aren’t going to be completely alone!

I’m a bit surprised to be here, truth be told. Yesterday we all had a collective freak out over Tumblr, and I thought it might be a good idea to import my blog here and make sure I can save all the things I have posted over the past few years. At this point I plan to stay on Tumblr, but this is my backup. I have linked to my fanfic on AO3 and Teaspoon, so this is another place you can find me.
